Life and Baseball

Yesterday, November 3, ended in a rush when we found out that the baby girl our friends are adopting was being rushed in for an emergency C section delivery at 32 weeks. The lists that had been started now needed to be expedited so that Joy could get to baby as soon as possible. Due to some of the privacy laws, once Mom was taken in for the delivery there was no more news coming our direction. That makes for a long night, full of emotion and as we left last night we ended with prayer. Our God is a BIG God and the author of life! A couple of weeks ago God gave Joy and Chris the name for this baby, Zoe, which means life.

How exciting this morning as the news came in
  • Apgar score of 8-9
  • Baby does not need to be on oxygen
  • baby tested negative for drug exposure
  • 3lbs 9oz
  • 15 inches long
  • head full of beautiful dark hair
  • Ronald McDonald House in the vicinity that Joy can base out of
  • Relatives traveling to help Chris with the girls while Joy is gone
  • Chris getting OK'd to take a few days off now to care for the girls and to travel for Joy and Baby when they are ready to come home
  • Joy's Mom was able to travel today to be with her and help her during the first few days
So I have been feeling very thankful for life, in general, and for life *Zoe* specifically.

Today - after a busy day of packing, organizing, and helping at the Langleys, I got to go watch my boys play in the first game of the baseball tournament. I love baseball. It was a great game in the freezing cold and the Astros played a great game and ended up winning 5-2. GO ASTROS
